While two spinal cord injuries left Fred Meyling unemployed and in California with a wife and three kids to support, instead of succumbing to being overwhelmed by his circumstances, he decided to get creative and start supporting his family with his own small business. Because he was starting his own businesses, he was able to chose to work primarily with nonprofit groups specially designed for helping people with disabilities. His creativity allowed him to adjust from being a victim to being a champion for his family and for those in need. Fred Meyling now runs his own nonprofit as well as volunteers for other communities.
